Cash For Clunkers Trade-In Car List

Filed under: — Forlorn Boater @ 8:05 pm

Here ’tis. (.PDF link)

It is disgusting.

I don’t care how bad its condition was - whoever turned in a:

Aston Martin
DB7 Volante
1997

was wrong. Check it out. You were WRONG.

And this:

ASC Incorporated
GNX
1987

Know what that is? That, my friends, is a freaking 1-of-547 Buick GNX.

What kind of asshat destroys a GNX for $4,500? (Or for any price, for that matter…) The NUMBER PLATE on that car was probably worth $4,500. Did you not know what you had? Did no one tell you what that car was?

And there is no way this is right:

BMW
740il/740il Protection
2000

The salesperson filled in the form wrong; you didn’t REALLY get a 740 Protection model as a clunker.

From the “Things That Make You Go Hmmm… Department:

Chevrolet
Silverado 15 Hybrid 2WD
2004

A 5 year old hybrid truck?

I don’t so much mind this one (three, actually):

Excalibur Autos
Phaeton
1987

These were a waste of perfectly good Corvettes.

But 72 people found it necessary to destroy their 1986-1989 Mercedes 560SLs for $4,500? Eleven 1994-1995 E320 Convertibles (those are remarkable cars that cost over $80,000 when new, and were built like Mercedes used to be made)? One 1994 500E (built by Porsche!)? Moonbat crazy. If I was aware that someone was coming to trade in a running 500E, I would have paid them $4,500 for it sight unseen.

And this:

AS, Inc/GMC
Pas-typhoon
1992

Know what that is? Here you go.

Several Porsche 928s are no longer with us. The engine blocks alone on the 928s must have been worth a couple of thousand each, not to mention the rest of the parts. But no, all the “clunkers” have to be crushed / destroyed, not parted out.

Several hundred dickweeds sent Toyota Land Cruisers to their graves. Mine is just about to turn over 150,000 miles, and it shows no sign that it won’t make 300,000 miles. Somehow it’s a good use of our nation’s resources to crush these in favor of buying some new shiny POS that probably won’t outlast my current set of tires?

Last, but not least:

Rolls-Royce
Continental R
1997

I don’t care if there was a family of spider monkeys living in this thing for a decade… in no rational universe was this not worth rescuing.

Your (and my) tax dollars at work.

Read up. Of course, The One isn’t interested in the usual perversions, but this is grooming just the same.

Every time I begin to think “This guy can’t be THAT bad,” he proves me wrong.
