Tragic Boating Accident

German

I know there’s a German word for “homesick for a place you’ve never been,” although I can’t come up with it.

Tonight, I need a new word for “recognizing a sound you’ve never heard.”

A dog being eaten by an alligator.

No, I’m not kidding. It was horrible.

How much are those X-Frames these days?

Isn’t It Ironic

that Obama will likely be the guy under whose watch we get actual for realz semi-permanent National Park CCW?

Heh, heh, heh, heh.

(It still doesn’t make up for the Hughes Amendment. Not one little teeny bit. But the last minute and wildly unrelated add-on is eerily familiar.)

Two Birds, One Stone

So everyone in America has now been called by the car warranty scammers

But NASA has spent its last dime on Hubble (long may it fly), and the Mars rover “Spirit” is stuck in the sand with a broken wheel…

Surely NASA has some smart lawyers sitting around in Houston, and you can’t tell me that none of them have ever been called by the warranty scammers. So when they get the call: “ATTENTION: This is your second notice that your warranty on your car is about to expire!,” they should just press “1″ for “I’ll take it” and list the Spirit as their car. That way, the public gets a fixed Spirit and a hopelessly bankrupt warranty company (”Your Honor, nowhere in the warranty contract does it specify that the vehicle has to be located on the Earth!”) at the same time. The beer company will bring back the “Real Men of Genius” ads just for NASA…

Today

At lunch, I went to the Bass Pro Shops; they’ve got the Camelbak HAWG & Trail Blazer on sale; I picked up a Trail Blazer ($42 OTD) for a get-home bag. Nicely made, not overbuilt / over-heavy.

On another note, they had a bunch of 9mm ball, some .40 and .45 ACP and a few other calibers of handgun ammo in stock on the shelf. More $ than the WalMart, but they had it.

Natchez has XM855 for… $949.50 / 1000. So there IS ammo available…

Moar Ammo Update

The next nearest Wal-Mart had: 1 value pack of WWB .357 Sig and one box of Rem .32 Auto. No other handgun ammo. No .22 lr. Plenty of .17 caliber stuff; maybe I need a 10-22 in that. Plenty of shotshells.

This is getting serious when 2 Wal-Marts have NO .22 lr to sell.

Old News, But

Filed under: — Forlorn Boater @ 3:04 pm

The Wal-Mart near my house is OUT of handgun ammo in every caliber. Bare shelves.

They have a funny little sign that says that there’s a 6 box limit for each buyer. I personally would be thrilled to find 6 boxes of anything for sale.

Oh, and the new gun store in town that opened about a month ago? Made a special trip over there today to check it out… and they were closed. Middle of the day on Saturday, sign says Open 10-7… closed. Maybe they have nothing to sell?
