I’ve been an amateur radio operator for something like 15 years, and I listened on the amateur frequencies a long time before that. I have heard enough guys (it’s always the guys) talking about their various ailments to know that listening to other people talking about their health is about the most boring thing known to Man, so I won’t do that (much) here. I had an unusual health event that led to a wide variety of testing, the result of which is that it looks like I’m going to be around to keep boring you people for the indefinite future.
Oh, and Academy Sports has Monarch 7.62×39 on sale for $2.99 / box. Hie thee hence.
the deadly hamburger has done its evil work!” - Chiun, Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins.
Home sick today; the extreme overload of work lately has just basically put me down. On Monday, I worked so much that I think I actually made time go backwards. Anyway, I’m watching some teevee and Remo is on. Why is it that there was never a part 2 of this series?! Remo is awesome.
I’ve been using up my stored gas (in the Boatmobile) and rotating in a fresh supply. Protected by a shot-and-a-half of Sta-Bil, the 11-month-old gas in several cans has burned just fine, although I detect just a hint of knock and a bit of lost power. Next time, I rotate at the 6-month point.

I really really really wish that businesses wouldn’t do things like that. I remember when Tim Leatherman came out for Kerry last time around, and I remember being surprised at his surprise at the backlash that support caused. I find it a lot easier to deal with a business that doesn’t have an official political stance at all, either way. It’s hard to give my money to someone who, albeit indirectly, wants to disarm me and steal my money.
You know how that rabbit feels
Going under your speeding wheels,
Bright images flashing by,
Like windshields towards a fly,
Frozen in the fatal climb,
But the wheels of time
Just pass you by.
Wheels can take you around,
Wheels can cut you down.
We can go from boom to bust,
From dreams to a bowl of dust.
We can fall from rockets’ red glare,
Down to “Brother can you spare…”
Another war,
Another wasteland,
And another lost generation.
Rush, Between The Wheels
Yes, I know that I sound just like this. Emo is not my strong suit, so I’ll stop now.
bailout has a $300 tax break for employers who pay for bikes / bike repairs for their employees who bike to work. As usual, Monty Python anticipated this:
